"Stripes" is a product that is able to be used as an end user tool or as a development tool to produce barcodes, being integrated, into other applications that requires such features.

In either case, product license must be taken into consideration. According to the use that is going to be done, you must chose the license that better fits your needs.

"Stripes" is license under the triple license model that follows Advanced Software Production Line, S.L..

Triple license Model

You can adquire "Stripes" y take advantage from its features, using one of the following three license available:

• GPL (GNU Public License): an especially indicated license for "Open Source" projects.
• Commercial: a license available to use "Stripes" with closed source projects
• Aspl Open Source Alliance License: Third license alternative, which is based on a public alliance with Advanced Software Production Line, S.L.

Which license to chose is direclty defined by your software project needs. Next, we offer you a more detailed explanation for each license available.

GNU GPL (GNU Public Licence)

This license, very popular among "Open Source" projects, allows you to get access to all features that "Stripes" provides, without any derivated cost. You won't have to adquire any license to develop your product using "Stripes".

However, to adquire this license makes you to implicitly accept the following general conditions for your product:

• You can revoke none of the following 4 source fundamental rigths, totally or parcially, provided by the GNU GPL. Such rights are: freedom to copy, to redistribute, to use and to modify the product that is using "Stripes".
• This means you must provide the source that have developed using "Stripes" to the end user, without revoking any right previously described.

If you are not prepare to release your source code under the terms of the GNU GPL, or you want to get market advantage closing your source (without giving access to your source code) or you can't provide your project source due to external conditions, you must adquire a commercial license or a license under the "Aspl Open Source Alliance" program.

One fundamental aspect to better understand the GNU GPL license it is "viric" condition. Such condition, makes you to license your software product under the terms of the GNU GPL license, or similar, where, fundamentally, the 4 rights are also provided, that is, freedom to copy, use, redistribute and modify, you software product uses another software product that is license under the GNU GPL terms, which is the case of "Stripes".

Finally, we have to mention that adquiring "Stripes" through the GNU GPL doesn't include any warranty, in any form.

Support to get patches and solve errors from Advanced Sofware Production Line, S.L. are neither included.

Commercial license

This is the common model to adquire "Stripes" when it is required to develop commercial products (closed source projects). With this license:

• You can define any license condition for your software product that is using "Stripes", without being required to provide any right derived from the GNU GPL license.
• You will get ensured support from Advanced Software Production Line, S.L. to get valuable information on how integrate "Stripes" in your project, as well as support to get patches to solve errors found.

Aspl Open Source Alliance

Third license alternative provided, which allows to get some of the ecomomic advantages available from GNU GPL and those strategic advantages available from commercial licenses.

This license model is defined, in a non-exhaustive manner, as following:

• You will be able to use "Stripes" from your commercial product, without being required to provide those conditions enforced by the GNU GPL license.
• By adquiring "Stripes" under this terms, you won't have to buy a commercial license. However, you must to pay a percentage for each product you sell using "Stripes".
• Adquiring "Stripes" this way, doesn't provide any warranty and ensured support, in any form.

This license model is provided to those organizations that do not want to make an initial investment until getting results. As they appear, licensing is supported by paying an agreed percentage.

The main objective of the Aspl Open Source Alliance, is to allow getting "Stripes" to be included and used by other products under such terms that do not include the "viric" condition found in the GNU GPL license, allowing to self finance the project with profits received while selling products that takes advantage of using "Stripes".
