Turbulence: BEEP server Documentation

Turbulence Introduction

Turbulence is a general BEEP application server that allows to develop and easily deploy BEEP enabled server applications. This means you focus on adding features to your server side application, letting Turbulence to help you with (to name some of them):

• The profile security (by using profile path), that is, to ensure your profile is used in the exact combination sequence required.
• To enable application authentication (by using SASL profiles), that is, you can use already tested and integrated SASL framework to add auth to your server side applications (including site particular sasl configuration, MySQL support...).
• To secure connection transmissions in a transparent way to your application (by using TLS profile).
• The execution model required by your application, that is, you can choose to handle your incoming requests with a single new process each time (like HTTP servers), or handling a set of logically related connections by the same child process, allowing security configurations like chroot, changing executing user and group, etc.

Turbulence is written on top of Vortex Library and it is extended by modules written in C or python (for now) and can be accessed by available BEEP toolkits like Vortex Library (http://www.aspl.es/vortex) or jsVortex (http://www.aspl.es/jsVortex).

Turbulence documentation is separated into two sections: administrators manuals (used by people that want to deploy and maintain Turbulence and its applications) and the developer manual which includes information on how to extend Turbulence:
